Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story was a 1995 television film that aired on NBC.

After serving in the military for more than twenty years, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, Colonel Margarethe Cammermeyer (portrayed by Glenn Close) had a spotless record. But nothing could prepare her for the intensely personal legal fight against the U.S. Army when she was discharged for being a lesbian. With the support of her partner Diane (Judy Davis), Cammermeyer undertook an against-all-odds battle against the Army's policy.

Serving in Silence was the first made-for-television film that Barbra Streisand executive produced (along with Glenn Close, Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, and Barwood Films' Cis Corman). It aired February 6, 1995.

Glenn Close won the "Outstanding Lead Actress" Emmy for her performance in this made-for-television drama about the rights of homosexuals in the military.

Serving in Silence was honored with three Emmy Awards, the Peabody Award, the LAMBDA Liberty Award, the GLAAD Media Award, and the National Education Association Award for the Advancement of Learning.
