BARBRA & HER PALME D'OR AWARD

Isabelle Huppert presented the Palm D'or on Saturday and Barbra appeared on the video screen to accept it.

BARBRA NOT TO ATTEND PALME D'OR AT 79TH FESTIVAL DE CANNES

“On the advice of my doctors, as I continue recovering from a knee injury, I am sadly unable to attend the Festival de Cannes this year,” Barbra said in a statement. “But I am deeply honored to receive the Honorary Palme d’Or and had so been looking forward to celebrating the remarkable films of the 79th edition. I was also very much looking forward to spending time with colleagues whom I so admire – and, of course, returning to France, a place I have always loved. While I regret that I can’t be there in person, I want to extend my warmest congratulations to all of the filmmakers from around the world whose extraordinary talent and creative vision are being celebrated this year. My heartfelt thanks to the festival, and to everyone who continues to support and champion the art of cinema.”

BARBRA TO RECEIVE PALME D'OR AT 79TH FESTIVAL DE CANNES

According to their press release today, Barbra "will receive an Honorary Palme d’or during the Awards Ceremony, broadcast live from the Palais des Festivals stage on Saturday, May 23."

In a statement, Barbra said: “It is with a sense of pride and deep humility, that I’m honored to join the company of past Honorary Palme d’or recipients whose work has long inspired me. In these challenging times, movies have the ability to open our hearts and minds to stories that reflect our shared humanity, and to perspectives that remind us of both our fragility and our resilience. Cinema transcends borders and politics, and affirms the power of imagination to shape a more compassionate world.”

BARBRA ON OSCARS?

Streisand fans will want to tune into the Academy Awards show. The 98th Academy Awards will be held at 7 p.m. ET on March 15. They will air live on ABC and Hulu on March 15, starting at 7 p.m. ET.

Barbra appeared at the Oscars back in 2013 when she honored her friend Marvin Hamlisch during the In Memoriam section of the show — she sang "The Way We Were."  Her last appearance on the awards show was in 2019 when she presented an award.

Although Barbra's appearance is not confirmed by the Academy yet, the details are making their way around entertainment websites.  It's not known in what capacity she may participate ... but a good bet is that she will honor her friend Robert Redford in the In Memoriam section ... and possibly sing "The Way We Were" again, which makes the most sense.

TIMELESS ON PBS

Your local PBS station is probably airing the Timeless concert this weekend or in early March — check your local listings.

Of course, the TV special is meant to raise money for PBS.  Barbra's team has prepared a special, hi-rez version of the concert, which has also been edited to a shorter length than what you can see on the DVD that is still commercially available.

BARBRA IN 2026

Keep an eye out for upcoming announcements regarding new Barbra projects. However, to clarify: there are no concert tours or Netflix documentary specials in the pipeline. Those are simply rumors. The documentary is still a work in progress, and as of now, no network or streaming service has acquired the rights to air it. Additionally, Barbra has not indicated any intention to tour this year.
