Aired: April 7, 1970 on ABC
Streisand, wearing pink Scaasi, gives Oscar to John Wayne.
Barbra presented the “Best Actor” Oscar to John Wayne for his role in the filmTrue Grit. Streisand wore a custom pink Arnold Scaasi silk gown, decorated with sequined and beaded buttons and a matching pillbox hat.
Scaasi wrote: “For the 1970 Academy Awards presentation, as we had made enough waves with the see-through outfit the year before, I decided we would go in a complete opposite direction! I thought Barbra should just wear something flattering and really pretty. She loved pink, so we chose a soft pink silk crepe, again in the Streisand cut. The gown was long with tiny sleeves and a very low U-shape décolleté. Embroidered here and there, scattered all over, were dime-size tiny mirrors encircled with seed pearls. The obligatory pillbox in pink with mirrors and seed pearls crowned her.”

In a 2004 auction, Streisand's Oscar gown by Scaasi sold for $8,250. It was described as a “heavy silk gown, artfully decorated with hand crafted ‘buttons’ comprised of sequins, beads and rhinestones ... short sleeves, empire waist, and full length.”
