Stronger Together: Broadway for Hillary (2016)

Streamed: October 17, 2016 on YouTube, Facebook &

Billy Crystal on stage with Broadway singers.

Produced by Jordan Roth (president of Jujamcyn Theaters) and Richie Jackson, Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz, and Harvey Weinstein, Stronger Together was performed live at Broadway's St. James Theater and began at 8:30 p.m. ET. The theater audience paid from $125 to $10,000 to attend, with the money going to the Hillary Clinton Victory Fund.

The evening was hosted by funny man Billy Crystal. Streisand was heard but not seen (until later) as a sort-of co-host of the evening, playing the voice of God and introducing the various performers, as well as making some jokes at Donald Trump's expense (“Even the real God can’t find Trump’s tax return”).

Bernadette Peters, Sarah Jessica Parker, Anne Hathaway, Neil Patrick Harris, Hugh Jackman and Josh Groban were among the many stars who sang or performed speeches that night.

Chelsea and Bill Clinton spoke, too, and the entire performance raised roughly $2.3 million for Clinton's campaign.

After an intermission, Streisand appeared on camera. She said:

“Earlier this year I released an album of Broadway duets and one of the songs I recorded with Jamie Foxx has resonated with me as the perfect description of Hillary; her character and her strength. This is the most important election of our lifetime and when Hillary assumes the highest office of our great country the challenges she will face will be formidable. But I can assure you there's no obstacle she won't address with steadfast determination, keen intelligence, and deep compassion. And that's why I'm with her. This is Barbra Streisand, and I approve this message.”

Following Barbra's message, the audience at home and at the St. James were shown a video of “Climb Ev'ry Mountain” with Jamie Foxx, featuring footage of Mrs. Clinton throughout the years.

Streisand was referenced when, later in the show, actress Anne Hathaway and Broadway star Kelli O'Hara sang the duet that Barbra performed with Judy Garland in 1963 — “Get Happy / Happy Days Are Here Again.”
