Harmonie Club 1963

Harmonie Club (1963)

4 East 60th St
New York, NY

November, 1963
Barbra Streisand has the rare distinction of playing the Harmonie Club—the second oldest private club in New York City.

Traditionally an all-male club (which now admits females), it was founded for the purpose of “mutually beneficial social entertainment, occasional singing entertainments, lectures, etc.”

Streisand's 1963 gig at the Harmonie Club was a benefit to honor Leonard Goldenson, the force behind the creation of ABC television network. Goldenson was also Co-Founder and Chairman of United Cerebral Palsy Associations Inc. His eldest daughter, Genise, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Details are slim for this performance ... Barbra Archives is assuming that Goldenson was honored for his philanthropy and that Barbra Streisand sang for him sometime in November 1963 at the Harmonie Club. Barbra Archives discovered this previously unlisted Streisand gig when a document from it was auctioned on eBay.
