ABOUT THE SINGLE

The Funny Lady soundtrack was released by Arista Records—not Columbia Records (Streisand’s record label and recording “home” since 1962). Clive Davis (a former Columbia Records executive who encouraged Streisand to record contemporary songs on the Stoney End album) partnered with Columbia Pictures and created the Arista label.

“After many discussions between me and [Streisand's] devoted manager, Marty Erlichman, he and Barbra agreed to let Arista have the album,” wrote Clive Davis in his 2013 memoir.

Arista advertised the album proudly as one of the first releases from the new label. Arista also released “How Lucky Can You Get” as the only single from the album. The Arista single was an alternate version of the song, not the same take that was used on the Funny Lady soundtrack.

In 1998, when Arista remastered and rereleased the soundtrack, they included the “How Lucky Can You Get” single as a bonus track.

BILLBOARD CHARTS

This single did not chart on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart. It rose as high as #38 on Billboard’s Easy Listening chart.
