ABOUT THE SINGLE

Even though Columbia Records released the Original Soundtrack Recording of the Funny Girl film with musical arrangements by Walter Scharf, Barbra Streisand went into the studio with producer Jack Gold and arranger/conductor Peter Matz to cut two of the songs for release as a single.

Both sides offer alternate versions of Funny Girl soundtrack songs, with “Funny Girl” extended more than one minute.

“I'd Rather Be Blue Over You” was released for the first time on CD in 2002 as bonus track on non-U.S./Canada remastered editions of the Funny Girl soundtrack.

NOTE: Collectors may notice a track time difference on some promotional copies of this single.  Using the same catalog number, some discs have the 2:42-minute version of “Funny Girl,” which is shorter and the vocal from the movie soundtrack (even though the label credits Matz for the arrangement ... it was Scharf.)

The 2:42 minute version of the song Funny Girl.
