AMSTERDAM CONCERT NOTES



  • Celebrities in the audience 6/6: Singer Alicia Keys (she was performing the next night at the Ziggo Dome). Keys Tweeted: “Woooow!!! Barbra Streisand said she wanted 2 do a duet with ME @ her show 2night!!! u know how much I respect & love her!”; actor Jeroen Krabbé and his family (Streisand directed him in The Prince of Tides; Krabbé joined Team Barbra at the museum tour, too).
  • The 6/6 Ziggo Dome audience was incredibly enthusiastic. They clapped and clapped after her last song, “Some Other Time” and Barbra came back on stage. “You're too good, you're too good. I can't refuse you.” Then she sang the short version of “Woman in Love” to the crowd. “I have to go now,” she apologized. “They'll close us down here at a certain hour, so we have to go.” Barbra waved goodbye and said, “Memorable! I'll never forget you, Amsterdam.”
  • During the Q&A segment (6/6), one fan asked “When are you going to start filming Gypsy?” Barbra replied to the audience: “Well you can tell those people ... to call Stephen Sondheim and ask him. He'll know what I'm talking about.”
  • 6/10 Show: The set list changed a bit—Jason Gould's songs were moved to the first act; Botti and Rosyln Kind's spots were shortened; and Barbra added “Happy Days” as an encore, after some patter about visiting Ann Frank's house here in Amsterdam.
  • At this show, Barbra sang the "big finish" version of "People" that she's used in previous concerts.
  • During the Marvin Hamlisch segment, they began showing video footage of Barbra and Marvin laughing together and posing for photos in the back of the moving van with The Concert couches. In previous shows, they have used still photographs in this segment.
  • Barbra wore her hair differently in the 2nd Act — two strands tied in the back with a sparkly clip.
