ABOUT THE SINGLE

Barry Gibb told Billboard Magazine that Streisand “felt that [Woman in Love] was a little bit liberationist; that it might be a little too strong for a pop song.”

But “Woman in Love”— the first single from Barbra and Barry's Guilty album — debuted at No. 49 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in early September 1980.

“We and CBS felt that it was very important for the first single not to be a duet,” Charles Koppelman (Executive Producer) revealed. “We released the single five weeks before the album to make sure it took hold before everybody was exposed to the combined effort.”

“Woman in Love” became Streisand's fifth number one single, seven weeks after it debuted on Billboard's chart the week of November 1, 1980.

GRAMMY NOM

“Woman in Love” was nominated for Record of the Year in 1980 (“Sailing” by Christopher Cross won that year.)
