In 2009, ValCom Inc. completed production and acquired theatrical and television distribution rights to the 75-minute documentary, "Michel Legrand Is Music" from Art Plus Film Television. The documentary pays tribute to Michel Legrand's five-decade, multiple award-winning career composing many of the most memorable film and television scores and songs of all time.

ValCom Inc. premiered the documentary in a limited week-long theatrical run in New York City on September 18, 2009 at the Coliseum Theater. In addition, the documentary premiered in Los Angeles on September 16th at the Laemmle Grand Cineplex 4.

Legrand was displeased with the film and sued the producers for damages. He was unhappy with the documentary. "Pathetic, thin, poor," he told La Presse. "This documentary should not only provide the public praise from my peers but to tell my life as a musician and composer, and especially to know being that I am."

Streisand appeared in the documentary on camera speaking about her friend Michel Legrand.
