BARBRA'S VIENNA SHOW

  • Barbra Streisand's 21 June show in Vienna was cancelled due to hazardous weather conditions. The show was rescheduled for 22 June 2007.
  • At 20:30 CET (remember Central Park?) the happening happened: Barbra, center stage, receiving tremendous standing ovations for minutes after she said: “We made it, we made it!” That special moment, most Europeans awaited for more than thirty years! She did “Come Rain or Come Shine” which matches the whole situation (instead of “Down with Love”). (Werner Wawruschka)

“In Vienna, during our sound check, a huge dark cloud loomed toward the stage as we were singing (appropriately enough) ‘Something’s Coming’ from West Side Story. Then came a wind that blew every chair over like a child's set of dominos. Rain, thunder and lightning soon followed. Dust and grit flew into our eyes and mouths, sheet music blew away, instruments were soaked, electric rigging and huge LED screens swayed overhead as everyone was evacuated to safety inside the Palace. As I was drying off outside my dressing room, I saw Barbra and told her everything that had just happened, and without missing a beat she asked, ‘But was the sound good?’”
